LIVE IN LONDON
|
"I
think it’s natural that a band tries to reach new fans and keep the 'old'
ones in the back of the head. That’s not really fair, but it’s human. We
learned from errors. We know exactly who the real fans are and we don’t want
to disappoint them." - K.K. Downing, Rock Hard magazine, 2003
"I
guess you just get used to yourself getting older. I never really have to
look at the old stuff or listen to any of the older albums. I just try to
focus on the future. When we did the remastering, I did spend a lot of time
listening to the older stuff - it was great. Even though we play a lot of
the older stuff on stage, there are still a lot of numbers that I had
overlooked and almost forgotten about. But after you’ve written it, recorded
it and played it around the world for thirty years… I do feel comfortable
playing those songs on stage, though. You know, I do listen to them, but not
very often. I’ve just always been someone who focuses on the future.
"The sets are getting so nostalgic, I
think we're one step away from Vegas. In a few years, I could easily see
myself there in one of those silver suits with all the sequins, playing all
our hits." |
Well... Ripper did wear a silver mirrored jacket...
But for Christmas 2001, Judas Priest pulled out all the stops and did a special extended set at London's Brixton Academy on December 19 for the filming of their first live video! Several numbers were dusted off and performed for the first time in many years, such as "Running Wild", "United" and "Turbo Lover", as well as new songs "Hell Is Home" and "Feed On Me" from the latest album.

Many fans were confused and even upset that Judas Priest would release another double live album with only one studio album between the last live album, but management co-ordinator Jayne Andrews explains:
